An employee whos job it is to take data from one source (eg SQL Server) and stick it in another source.
A bit like a DBA (Database Administrator) but without the job prospects.
"Hey Jim, do you have that Excel spreadsheet yet?"
"No Pete, the Data Monkey has only had the jobsheet for 6 days, I'll have it for Christmas...I think."

One whose job requires the use of no more than: (a) two fingers with which to achieve a succession of keystrokes enabling the individual to cut data from one source and simply paste it into another; (b) two brain cells which are mainly used to do google searches and send emails to other data monkeys.

A person who is incapable of any creative or critical thought, (i.e. Psychologists) who relies solely on numerical evidence to shape their worldview. In a professional realm, these are the people who don't contribute any meaningful commentary to a project that they may undertake, and instead tell anybody with questions to "look at the charts." They do not put in any meaningful work themselves, opting instead to mine for the work someone else has done and draw the most painfully obvious conclusions from it
"Oh look, this paper came to the same conclusions I did just by using my two brain cells. They must be a data monkey."

Often confused in the wild to be the leader over an individual(s) of limited intellect and skills within an organization that can only mine or move data around from one place to another. But in fact, the Chief Data Monkey is a new species that has command of massive amounts of data that can be turned into information and insights for individuals to make better decisions. Organizations are sprouting up around "Big Data" and calling on these individuals to help make sense of the data both big and small that have impact on markets, science and governments. The challenge for governments and large enterprises becomes who should own big data initiatives that cross over entire departments and organizations. Therefore, the rise of the Chief Data Monkey becomes a natural evolution to ensure continued growth and prosperity and elevates the role of the once belittled data monkey.
