What irresponsible back yard breeders and puppy mills call mutts and sell for exorbitant amounts of money. These losers are creating another fad that comes at the expense of innocent dogs.
Hey is that guy walking a schnoodle or a puggle, you know one of those designer dogs?
Neither, it's a dumbass that paid $1,000 bucks for a mutt that has hip dysplasia.

A term used by scam artists to charge exorbitant prices for mutts.
My friend tried to sell me a Labradoodle for $1000 calling it a designer dog. I told him that the difference between a $50 dog and a $500 dog were papers and you can't get no papers on a mutt.

(1)Any dog which is crossbred with another canine species with other crossbreeders BUT it does not includes dogs that are forcefully BRED IN A "PUPPY MILL" with other dog including inbreeding with the mother dog & any other dog from the same litter.
(2) a type of dog which was formally known as a "Mutt" or "Mongrel".
Me & my neighbor decided to go to the Designer Dog business by breeding her Poodle with my Cocker Spaniel.

Small well-groomed dog carried as an accessory by equally well-groomed woman. May be carried in a handbag, pushed in a stroller or less frequently, on a rhinestone encrusted leash. Frequently seen in upscale shopping malls and clothing boutiques.
Can cause cries and gasps of "Soooo cute" from bypassers, retail store personnel and overly friendly salespersons, also usually female but occasionally gay or just trying to make a sale. The astute observer will note the dog's owner basking in the vicarious attention. These cries increase in strength and volume in direct proportion to the number of designer dogs carried, hence many women now sport multiple dogs.
Often dressed for the season or holiday in color-coordinated "cute" outfits and matching fur adornments such as bows. May also sport custom "fur cuts".
Occasionally high strung and nippy, but more often dull and unaware. Yet another way these dogs resemble their owners. Or is it the other way around?
The designer dog is the latest accessory for the well-groomed urban woman.

A hybrid-breed dog that is bred for the express purpose of combining the traits of the two parent breeds, as opposed to the accidental or incidental crossing of two pure-breed dogs. A designer dog is not quite pure-bred and not quite a mutt. The popularity of various designer dog breeds over the past 25 years has been exploited by many backyard breeders, most of whom are unfortunately not seriously committed to the physical and psychological welfare of the animals they produce. In spite of this, designer dogs often make ideal animal companions for a variety of unique home and family settings. Designer dog breeds are typically referred to by clever names likes labradoodle (Labrador-poodle) and chiweenie (chihuahua-dachshund.)
My designer dog Tippy is a chiweenie whose unique constitution and temperament is the result of combining some of the best features of the chihuahua and dachshund breeds.

Someone who pays a breeder for a particular type of dog may do so seeking certain characteristics common to that breed, that may not be found taking chances with a shelter dog which often is no less loving, and in need of a home, resulting in feelings of designer dog guilt.
No kill shelter or not, your spent $3,000 on a dog when countless adorable animals in shelters, available for free no less, need a forever home? What's wrong with you?!!! Don't you have any designer dog guilt?
