dracularity

Noun. Popularized by the podcast Subliminal Jihad.

1. The perception of a real-world event (or series of events) having mythological significance and/or lasting societal consequences, especially when those consequences result in a remarkable consolidation of power, capital, and influence away from the public.

2. The perception that a significant event (usually a catastrophe) is analagous in "execution" or outcome to a clandestine sacrifice or ritual.

The dracularity of a national tragedy is often the origin of conspiracy theories.
