A for effort

Nice try, but the final product sucks.

Kid: Mom! Dad! Check out this painting I did in class today!
Mom: It looks wonderful son!
Dad: Sigh, A for effort, I suppose.
Mom: Honey, don't be so hard on him, the painting is decent for his age.
Dad: I was talking about us.

Efforting

A made-up word used by TV news producers or assignment editors who should be mouth-punched; often used by people who think it's a more eloquent way of admitting fail.

"Lindsay Lohan mugshots? Oh, yeah, I'm, uh, efforting them now."

"Efforting? Only the paste-eaters in the TV department use that retardese."

A for effort

Not the worst attempt. Perhaps if you invested a little more time and brain work, you would get something that you can actually be proud of instead of this pile of rubbish.

Boy : Hey sweetie, I got you something
Girl : Oh Wow! What did you get me?
Boy : A Brand New Star Wars T-shirt
Girl : *sigh* Oh well. A for Effort.

Efforting

A made up word used only by newscasters to show off that they're doing the job they're paid to do. A poor attempt to make the word β€˜effort’ into a verb. To make it sound like something simple is tough to do, so they’re making extra effort. Often used as a stall when a report isn’t ready.

We’re efforting to get that hurricane report from the beach ready for you.
