noun
A growing epidemic in the Western Hemisphere where people who wish to be taller add upwards of 1 to almost 5 inches to their genuine height to appear "taller" or "less short" to the general population or to conform to the expectations of what is considered "tall" in modern society.
This practice can most often be seen on Tinder dating profiles or in professional sport leagues such as the NBA(National Basketball Association).
Chase: "Yo, did you see Parker's new bio on Instagram? He just claimed 6' 3''. I swear he's not taller than 5' 10''.
Landry: "Don't worry, bro. He just suffers from heightflation."
The gradual increase and gatekeeping over time of what height is considered tall for men despite a stagnant average, especially in the US.
Person 1: yeah he’s pretty tall, I think he’s 6’1?
Person 2: oh that’s not that tall, that’s pretty average.
Person 1: 4 inches above average isn’t tall? That’s total heightflation.
