A home video format that was the pre-cursor to DVD. Stored movies on double sided 12" optical discs. Helped popularize "Bonus Features" on home video releases.
Movie Buff: "Before DVD, we were watchin' Laserdisc!"

An ancient and absurd technology which forced humans to purchase excessively large disks which held movies for viewing on an excessively large device for a brief period of time. Hipsters now find these large discs trendy and accumulate them to host "Laserdisc'ing parties" where they gather, drink PBR's, and watch movies such as The Notebook.
Dude, lets hit that totally hipster awesome Laserdisc party - Random Hipster DB.

The best thing ever! It is an old Optical Disc format that is half analog and half digital. Is it burned in a different way compared to the CD and DVD, despite looking like a CD the size of a Vinyl Record. It was a failed format. Why? Because compared to VHS, Laserdisc costed WAY more! Nobody had fancy TVs either, so the quality wouldn't make much of a difference. Despite still having a crisis over my old Urban Dictionary account and coping this way, Laserdisc is still amazing.
Person 1: Wow! It's a CD Record!
Person 2: No it's not, it's a Laserdisc.
Person 1: Oh.
