Nuft

1. Lacking or deficient in the sense of smelling.
2. A word used to describe individuals that cannot smell odors, pleasant or otherwise.
3. A word for nose-blindness that is actually it’s own word. (See nose-blindness)

The word “nuft” closely follows the grammatical structure of “deaf” and can be easily declined in like manner.

Deaf - Nuft
Deafer - Nufter
Deafest - Nuftest
Deafness - Nuftness
Deafened - Nuftened (Silent ‘t’)
Deafening - Nuftening (Silent ‘t’)

If a form of “nuft” is required that is not listed here, refer to the form of “deaf” that most closely fits the situation and convert it to “nuft.” If this new form of “nuft” is difficult to pronounce, the ‘t’ is likely intended to be silent.

“Johnny’s practically nuft; he can’t hardly smell anything.”
“Fargo is WAY nufter than Johnny. He might be the nuftest of us all.”

The nuftening stench hit Bob like a truck.

“I smell.” Said the blind, nuft man to his dumb deaf daughter.

“Nuftness is not a joke, Stephen. I’ve been nuft practically my whole life. It all began when I passed by that grouchy green trash puppet named Oscar. I’ve been nuftened ever since.”
