P+TY, abbreviation of Please and Thank You, is how you graciously make a request (please) for an action and proactively express gratitude (thank you) for the taking action on the request. It was popularized by Ron Swanson, a devout stoic, who's gruff exterior was belied by his need to be polite in every instance.
