precautious

Being cautious before necessary, overly cautious, or adding an extra step to the precautionary measures one needs to take.

My father was afraid of fire & always felt the need to be precautious about putting them out if he saw one - he carried a fire extinguisher with him everywhere he went.

Sarah was a precautious person; she put on an extra layer of pads before skateboarding in case the original ones didn't hold up.

My aunt was precautious about sunburn - she wore sunscreen day and night, indoors and outdoors.

Precautious

Precautious is the cross between being cautious and preparing to take precautions - made the word up at the pub enjoy! :)

Sandra: how prepared are you to open up the pub?

Dorris: Iโ€™m being precautious
