What a modern day 'emo' really is. Emo music is actually defined by such bands as Rites of Spring, and was really just another subgenre of hardcore punk. Today's pseudo-neo-emo is just a digusting individual who looks at livejournal, cock-in-hand whilst crying about nelson mandela's death. Irony, it's a virtue.

emo: I enjoy my subgenre of hardcore punk
pseudo-neo-emo: *cuts wrist* oh how my life sucks so much that I steal my 'scene' from an already poor subgenre of punk.
true punk: 'oi, anarchy yeah!'
