1) Popular British TV programme with 'Red Dwarf's' Kryton actor Robert Llewllyn, along with Lisa Rogers, commonly watched by ugly, overweight, aged, but somewhat esoteric and cool and geeky men. Women almost entirely not allowed, except Lisa Rogers.
2) The act of sifting through the pile of old, stained and somewhat sticky jazz-mags hidden - probably badly - from your other half/parents/housemates/cleaner in order to find the one image of substance that might, today as well as potentially up to 5 years ago, get you off.
3) To find something useful in a pile of seemingly old useless shit.
Mate, I had such a rand on last night I had to resort to a bit of 'scrapheap challenge'. Oh, the memories!

Played on the days between running out of weed and next seeing your dealer, scrapheap challenge is a game where you tactfully search the areas in and around your rolling tin (or rolling table, if a connoisseur), grinder or other tools in search of materials to construct a joint or any contraption that will achieve a sufficient high.
That was my last nug, guess itβs Scrapheap Challenge for me tomorrow.
Trying to pick up at the end of an evening out at a bar, club, party, etc usually at close.
Can also happen as you make your way home.
Like the show, the challenge is to find something/someone within the what's leftover (the scrap).
Ashley: Everyone is dancing, no chance of picking up in here.
Jo: Not long until close, we can play scrapheap challenge outside.
