The pleasure districts of feudal Japan. Literally meaning "floating world," these were places in which one would find nothing but sex and courtesans.
Have you read about those ukiyo places? Don't sound too different than New Orleans.

Ukiyo-e is the Japanese woodblock print genre of art, literally, "Pictures of the floating world."
