uncouple

Two people who are friends and there are some romantic feelings between them, but you don't see them getting together at any time in the near future... so romance between the two of them is not assured. First used by the Tvgal at zap2it.com to describe certain television friendships.

Joan and Mitch are such an uncouple.

conscious uncoupling

A bullshit term used by people who take a relationship/marriage and any children involved lightly to excuse their behavior to people that they consider themselves above.

We will use the term "Conscious Uncoupling" to excuse our selfish behavior to stupid people when announcing our divorce so as to give the illusion of our higher intellect, which in reality, is quite sub-pedestrian in nature. This term will also divert attention away from how we were too lazy to find a way to adjust our self absorbed behavior for the sake of the children affected by this trauma.

conscious uncoupling

A term used by one or more parties to a marriage, romantic relationship, civil union etc. to announce its ending, yet, at the same time, assure the public, in general, that the decision was made only after careful and immense thought, reflection, consideration and remorse. Not to be confused with a rash, unthinking or unconscious split-up, break-up, divorce or the like.

You know what they say....marriage is the leading cause of conscious uncouplings.
