Usually occurring when people are talking in an online text chat. Someone, usually not participating in the active conversation, sends a random meme and interrupts the conversation no apparent reason.

Person 1: Are you going to the accounting exam?

Person 2: Yeah but I’m totally screwed for it, how do you feel about it?

Person 1 and 2: We just got hit by an interrupting meme.
