Aspergerâs Sydrome is a neurological disorder that affects mostly males. It is on the autism spectrum, but is considered a much milder case of it. Aspergerâs or AS for short, is a rarer disorder on the spectrum and comes with its many gifts but also many curses.
Aspies, or people with AS, often have the intellect and language ability of a normal person, something that differentiates them from the more severe cases of autism. They have great visual and auditory processing skills and have an extensive vocabulary. This intelligence makes many people with AS go into and graduate in the STEM program.
The biggest downside of having AS is a lack of social abilities. Aspies tend to not understand nonliteral language, such as irony and sarcasm. Many Aspies also avoid making eye contact and have trouble starting small conversations. Aspies can obsess over small things and when those things are brought up in a conversation, they will talk about them for long periods of time. People with AS also have issues with making new friends and will often stay and talk with the people they trust the most.
People with AS are often stereotyped as weird or nerdy and that makes them a target for harassment and bullying. Normal people also often confuse people with AS with people further down the autism spectrum.
Aspergerâs is a very misunderstood disorder. The people with Aspergerâs are great people if you get to know them, which unfortunately is hard for them to know you.
Person 1: Billy is very socially awkward isnât he. You think he has autism?
Person 2: No, his grades are better than mine.
Person 1: Might be Aspergerâs Syndrome then.
Person 2: Youâre probably right.

Being emotionally numb and/or empty due to a collection of bad experiences, especially in the dating scene. Jaded people often wonât show any reaction/interest when others flirt with them.
Person 1: You know that girl was flirting with you, right?
Person 2: I really couldnât care. Sheâll probably hurt me like the rest of them did.
Person 1: Damn, youâre really jaded then
Someone who changes their personality based on who theyâre with. They usually have lower self-esteem than most people, so their personality varies to seem likeable by many types of people. Everyone does this to an extent, but shape-shifters become completely different people when they change their personality.
Ex: Jeremy is respectful around his family, wild around his close friends, caring and sweet around his crush, and quiet and reserved around people he doesnât know as well/strangers.
Person 1: You should have seen my friend Robert at my party yesterday. He took 5 shots and was the center of attention all night,
Person 2: Really? I had to work with him on a project and he was as silent as a mouse. He only talked when he absolutely had to.
Person 1: Robert must be a shape-shifter then. Poor guy.
