Tando

The felt hat worn by Zoot Suiters of the 1940's L.A., California.

The hat, usually made out of felt, that goes with a Zoot Suit, characterized as a wide-brimmed hat, tipped forward, with an extra long feather attached to the crown of the hat and extending at an angle backwards.

"This tando looks great with my Zoot Suit! It's the perfect accessory to my suit!"

Cohete

Means gun, pistol, firearm in Chicano/Latino culture slang.

Comes from Spanish, where "cohete" means "rocket" or "firecracker."

"Before they used to fight mano-a-mano. Kids these days now come out with the cohetes and start blasting at everybody... What a shame."

California term for clothes, either nice clothes or regular clothes. Equivalent of the term "threads" in English to describe your clothing, "trapos" is the term in Spanish.

"Check out my new trapos. I'll be looking good tonight at the party."

A person who is a fan or fanatic of the Mexican soccer team las Chivas Rayadas de Guadalajara. Someone who is proud to say he/she loves the Chivas and will be his/her team until the day he/she dies.

"I know friends who are Atlas fans and Pumas fans, but I am a true chivero and will continue to cheer for my Chivas!!"
