A term for autistic people!
The term âautizzyâ has been around for decades and has been used among autistics & their families since the early 90âs in suburbs within Minnesota, Colorado, & Illinois, if not in other states as well.
The term âautizzyâ has been one of controversy between the years 2021-2022, after a a Black Autistic by the name of âtheythempluralâ on the social media platform, TikTok, âcoinedâ the term for only Black autistics to use after hearing it for the first time.
The term âautizzyâ was certainly not created through the recent social media app, TikTok, & was not considered a part of AAVE (African American Vernacular English) until the last couple years, 2021-2022.
This coining by âtheythempluralâ of the term,âautizzyâ on the social media platform, TikTok, occurred during a time where being autistic became, for lack of a better phrase, trendy-causing a large portion of people to hear certain terms such as âstimmingâ âspecial interestâ, and âautizzyâ for the first time.
Despite this, autistics & their communities in various suburbs in America have been referring to themselves & their loved ones as âautizzyâ & making representative T-shirts with the term on them for years.
The term âautizzyâ is & has been for any autistic person to use since, at least, the 90âs.
âHeâs a little autizzyâ.
âThe autizzy communityâ.
âWeâre the autizzy club!â
âJust a bit autizzyâ
âShe has a lot of autizzy traitsâ.
âTheyâre just autizzyâ.
âCan you put the word âautizzyâ on that?â.
