A response when you donât have the time or energy to correct or explain something to someone older. Often times older people are more entrenched in their views and experiences that explaining something falls on deaf ears (no pun intended). Hence a lot of conversation about things like the environment, (work place etiquette, gender equality, intermittent fasting, whatâs considered hate speech and whatâs socially acceptable, the hiring process, etc) leads nowhere. So save yourself the headache and yelling by saying âok, boomerâ and leave. Itâs important to note that as Gen X ages (generation after boomers), it can apply to them as well. Itâs basically what you say when explaining/debating a topic isnât worth the effort anymore.
Boomer giving advice: "Just call/go in and ask if they're hiring!"
Someone looking for a real job: âyou canât, you have to submit your resumé online first or theyâll turn you away at the doorâ
Boomer giving advice: âWe used to just walk in and ask to see the hiring manager, go try that!â
Someone looking for a real job: â...ok, boomerâ
Or
Clueless boomer: âI donât see why Jews are so pissed off about a few cartoons poking fun at them or that parade in Aalst (Belgium) where people wear some silly costumes?â
Respectful citizen: âBecause itâs completely anti-Semitic, and itâs likening them to ants! Literally! And do you not remember how the holocaust started? Itâs the little things!â
Clueless boomer: âya but itâs a once a year festival thatâs hundreds of years old that pokes fun at everyone. Itâs all in good spiritâ
Respectful citizen: â...ok boomer, I have to go. Covid-19 is coming and I need more toilet paper, donât have time to debate this.â

The government telling people to stay home, stock up on rice and pasta and toilet paper. Shut the blinds and hide inside, and binge watch Netflix and video games for a while till the threat is gone. Its not very strict since you can technically still go out for âessentialsâ like toilet paper and pop tarts. Certain places stay open, but a lot of places close.
Bay Area government: âWe are ordering people to shelter in place beginning Tuesday March 17, for the next 3 weeks in response to the Coronavirus pandemic sweeping the worldâ
Hysteric Public: âwtf?!? I need to go to Safeway and get all the toilet paper! Then wait in line at Costco for 4 hours to get all the Purell to fill a bathtub to disinfect myself and bleach to disinfect my stomach! (Jk, donât do that please. Bleach kills, DO NOT DRINK BLEACH!)â
Concerned public: âSo itâs like a quarantine? Are we allowed to leave our homes? What about our jobs? And the (insert something here) convention this weekend?â
Bay Area government: âNot a quarantine, you can leave your home for essentials. Businesses deemed essential like grocery stores and petCo (dogs have to eat too) will remain open. Restaurants will have to close and do takeout/deliver only. Healthcare workers will continue. All public gatherings of like 10 or more people will have to be canceled, sorry. Also if you have to go out, keep a distance of 6â between yourself and other people. So try not to freak outâ
