macintosh

A computer system used by some as an alternative to PCs. Noted for their stability, Macs are commonly used for graphical design, editing and similar visual-performance tasks. Industry standard in photography and movie industries. Unfortunately, lack of developer support and relative nonexistence of an open-source community keeps the Mac a distant second in the eyes of the computing community.

krug

The actual greatest champagne in the world. Noted for pronounced aromas of gingerbread and tropical fruit that develop into a complex yeasty bouquet of infinite complexity with a finish that can last for hours in the best vintages. The only hundred-point champagne as rated by Wine Spectator ever, was the 1988 vintage.

FUN FACTS:

The grand cuvée Krug is rarer than vintage Cristal. (GC = a blend of vintages, equivalent to Moet et Chandon Brut Cuvée or Louis Roederer Brut)

The grand cuvée Krug is $150US / bottle (compare with $40US / bottle for MC).

Vintage Krug is considered by some to be the best champagne in the world. Aging potential is second to none; no other winery could produce a champagne that sits for 60 years without showing signs of wear (1947 Krug). Bottles of vintage Krug are far rarer than even the best years of Cristal, Dom Pérignon or the like, and often command five times the price of these champagnes at auction.

Krug 1947, 1961, 1979, 1988, 1990, and any Clos du Mesnil releases.

Hennessey

One of the leading cognac houses of france, along with Remy Martin and Courvoisier. The colloquial term "Hennessey" usually refers to Hennessey V.S. -- Very Superior -- which is in essence a brandy distilled from grapes in the Cognac region of france and aged for a minimum of two years in oak barrels. This imbues the brandy with a remarkable smoothness and complexity of flavors that is unequalled anywhere else in the world.

Hennessey also comes in a variety of other forms, from most common to rarest:

V.S. - Very Superior - minimum two years aging in oak barrels, $40/bottle

V.S.O.P. - Very Superior Old Pale - minimum four years aging in oak barrels, $70/bottle

X.O. - Extra Old - minimum six years aging in oak barrels, $150/bottle

Paradis - proprietary blend of eaux-de-vie from the private reserves of Hennessey varying in age from 10 to 25 years, $300/bottle

Richard Hennessey - proprietary blend of eaux-de-vie from the private reserves of Hennessey varying in age from 20 to 50 years, $1500/bottle

There also exists a very limited release of Hennessey dubbed "Timeless", of which only two thousand bottles were put on the market at an approximate value of $4000/bottle. Timeless consists of a blend of ten cognacs from the very best vintages of the last century.
