the fediverse

a decentralized social network, or "federated universe," of independent social media websites and platforms, which all interoperate with eachother via the activitypub protocol, forming the larger network. this includes several instances of mastodon, misskey and its forks, pleroma/akkoma, etc.

it isn't owned by any one party, in the same way that "email" isn't owned by gmail, outlook, and thousands of mail servers connected to the internet.

i also have an account on the fediverse if any of you nerds wanna follow me over there

fediblock

for one or more instances on the fediverse to collectively block another instance. this is how the fediverse is moderated at the administrator level. if an instance is owned by bad actors, generally people call it out, often with the fediblock hashtag, administrators take action, and it may be added to public blocklists as well.

everyone seems to be debating whether or not they should fediblock that instance, it's pretty big and would sever a lot of connections and followers, but their lack of moderation is getting out of hand.

making papa johns busy

A form of cyberharassment in which people collectively call local pizza places on behalf of a victim, after having their home address doxxed. Like a less dangerous and purely inconvenient form of swatting.

The forum can't seem to stop making papa johns busy any chance they get.

Annoyingcase

A style of capitalization often used by people way too young to be using the internet, where the first letter of every word is capitalized. It is named after how annoying kids can be in online spaces, as well as how much anything written in annoyingcase hurts to read, as if every word is the start of a new sentence.

AwesomeKidUsername327: Hey Guys! I Just Joined The Chat, Woah! How Are You Guys Doing?
slightlydeadinsideusername: you can chill with the annoyingcase, how old are you?

Stuckware

An alternative and arguably catchier way of saying "Potentially Unwanted Programs" or PUPs. This refers to software which intentionally makes itself difficult to remove entirely, often the only way to truly get rid of it is to reinstall your entire operating system. Although mainly used to refer to software downloaded in bundles from fake download buttons, invasive DRM platforms from large software corporations such as Adobe and Autodesk also fall under the term.

Should've never let my nephew borrow my laptop, now my storage disk is stuffed to the brim with stuckware.

-cord

A suffix that generally refers to the official or most relevant discord server based around said prefix. Mostly users come up with the term to refer to a server, but sometimes it's used as the server's official title.

Sorry this is xyzcord, go ahead and ask about that in etc-cord.
