A bad neighborhood located in Medford, New York.
The "Ghetto" part of Medford.
If you drive down to the Pines you will see streets littered with broken beer bottles, overgrown lawns, large old men drinking on their porches, etc. There are many teenage drunks and stoners there as well, and many other unsavory characters live in that neighborhood.
The Pines is known for its crime, the police are often called in for drugs, domestic violence, gang violence and for breaking up house parties.
It is called "The Pines" because many (but not all) street names end with the word "pine" (ex: Scotch Pine Drive, Pitchpine Place, etc.)
Certain parts of The Pines fall within the South Country School District, but a majority of the neighborhood is in the Patchogue-Medford School District. The "ghetto kids" from those districts are usually from the Pines.
There is a playground on Southaven Avenue, across from Silverpine Drive, called "Twelve Pines Park" it has basketball courts, a jungle gym and swings, however it is often empty, the only people using it being stoners using it as a place to get high, or skanky girls passing by.

People from the Pines will cut your stomach open if they think you've swallowed a penny.

Medford, New York is a suburban town located on Long Island in Suffolk County. It's population is 21,985 and it consists of middle class families.
Olympic track and field runner Anthony Famiglietti was born and raised in Medford NY.

Refers to the Patchogue-Medford School District, or Patchogue-Medford High School which is located in Medford, New York.
The Patchogue-Medford School District consists of seven elementary schools, three middle schools and one high school. The district serves the towns of Patchogue and Medford (as well as East Patchogue and North Patchogue). It is one of the largest school districts in Suffolk County, along with the Sachem School District.
Patchogue-Medford High School has around 3,000 students, grades 9-12. A lot of the teachers are actually graduates of Pat-Med. The school has a great music and drama department, the Robotics team has won many national awards, in 2002 the Varsity Football team won the Long Island Championships.
Notable Alumni of Pat-Med High include Kevin Connolly from the show "Entourage," Olympic athlete Anthony Famiglietti, medal of honor recipient Michael Murphy.
I am graduating from Pat-Med in June.

An Ekka is a girl who is fat, ugly and depressed most of the time.
Ekkas are dangerous because they will start clinging on to your friends and attempt to spend all of her time with your best friend, leaving you with little or no time with your friend.
Ekkas cling to people because they constantly feel lonely, unnattractive, unloved, etc.
Alexis gained 25 pounds over the summer and has turned into an Ekka.
