One of the few true stealth games on the market. Popular, but still underrated really. Brought us something new for a change (Spy vs Merc multiplayer) and really fun co-op (Chaos Theory).
Casual gamers love to dispute over Splinter Cell and MGS. One popular argument being "he has 3 green lights on his head how can the dumb guards not see him?!". It is widely known that that is Sam's trademark, the guards don't actually see it. A better comparison might be Splinter Cell and Thief.

A sleeper cell is a person who surprises you with some trait of attribute that was formerly unknown.
"Jake took off his shirt to reveal that he had a six pack... And that's when I knew he was a sleeper cell"
"Jenny seemed like an idiot ans then I found out she's Rhodes Scholar, that chick's a sleeper cell"

The thing of the past.
Today, pocket-sized computers that have (mostly) the same functions of a regular-sized desktop or laptop computer can do; i.e. read, write, surfing the web, look at the time and keeping time, listening to music, gaming (not the high-detail games like Skyrim, Call of Duty and such), e-mailing, etc.
The best feature these pocket-sized computers are well known for are the ability to call and text just like a cell phone, except a little more "modern". These are called "Smartphones".
Girl (on her 12th birthday): "YAAY! SOO excited! I got my first phone! I can't wait to show it to my friends at school!"
(The next day at school):
Girl: Hey, do you like my new cell phone? I got it got my birthday, yesterday."
Friend of Girl: "What is that ugly thing?? *scoff* You call that a phone? What is this, the 90's? Get a real phone like mine" *holds up a slim, shiny, new smartphone*
Girl: That's not a phone, that's a pocket sized computer!"
Friend of Girl: "Oh, true, but mine's still better than yours. Mine's the shit, yours is.... shit"

The technical definition of being a splinter cell means working alone, being invisible, and using agility and wits to infiltrate enemy compounds to achieve your goals. A splinter cell also has the right to exercise the "Fifth Freedom" - vaguely described as ability to eliminate any threat as seen fit without question.
I am a splinter cell.

Where person 'A' makes a cell phone call to person 'B', gets their voice mail, begins to leave a message. Meanwhile person 'B' sees the missed call, phones person 'A' from THEIR cell, and gets person 'A's voice mail, leaving a message to call them back. meanwhile, Person 'A' finishes the message for person 'B', see's that they have missed a call from person 'B' and call them back, only to get the voice mail again, because person 'B' is doing the same... the cycle continues as long as the participants do not pause to let the other person through.
It took Jane and me forever to get out of that cell loop until I finally just put the phone down and waited for her to call.
I'm TRYING to call to get through to them so they don't miss the highway exit, but we're stuck in this damn cell loop!!

Are they using cell shading in that new game?
Yeah, it looks just like a cartoon.
