Democrats are commie bastards who fought for slavery and against the rights of minority peoples.
The American party of the southern states that failed to secede in 1881-1885. The democratic party is one of two original political parties created in 1787, 11 years after the signing of the American declaration of independance.

Someone who is a liberal or left-wing. Someone who usually believes things such as:
•There should be seperation of church and state, whether or not we were founded by christians
•State's rights are important
•Proving murder is wrong by killing a murderer is stupid
•"Killing" an unborn baby, where the mother could die from childbirth, or was a rape victim, is o.k. If you have masturbated or eat chicken eggs for breakfast how could you be against it.
•Thinks we need to do something about global warming
•Favors higher taxes for a GOOD REASON! There are too many underfunded schools, and over forty million americans without basic healthcare. Taxes pay for that.
•Thinks even if you are against something, doesn't mean it should be illegal for others to do.
•And to all you republicans, its ok to be a republican, but don't go bashing democrats and then not even know how to spell it, or have tons of errors, that is just embaressing.
I am a democrat

He is a democrat, he supports funding of schools

The default political party to vote for when opposing republicans in a presidential campaign.
Voting for the green party is worthless, I'll vote democrat.

A person who votes for the Democratic party. Not necessarily one of the far left wing.
Many Democrats (like myself) are centrists. While i believe that you should keep most of the money you make, and that you should learn to make money yourself, rather than relying on government handouts. I cannot bring myself to support the current Republican platform.
Ultra Right-wing Baptist fundamentalism is JUST as bad as Ultra Left-Wing Hippie fundamentalism.
Also, In an ideal world, i wouldnt mind paying taxes, as long as the govnernment is doing something with them. I would rather pay more taxes and have them go towards reforming our social system (second amendment) then pay less taxes that go towards killing Iraqi's.
They didn't attack us
They didnt have weapons of mass destruction

1. One belonging to the United States Democratic Party
2. Tend to believe that government should come to the aid the most disadvantaged in society (see Unemployment Insurance, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security). We don't bring it up much, but it's what Jesus taught.
3. Belive in the separation of church and state, on the off-chance that not everyone in America is a Southern Baptist.
4. Doesn't believe that industries have the unfettered right to dump carcinogens into our water supplies. Also believe in protecting public health and worker safety.
5. Believe in strengthening public education, rather than gutting it with vouchers.
6. Belive in civil liberties and equal rights for all people, regardless of gender, race, or sexual orientation; a Democratic President pushed through the Civil Rights Act even though it meant losing half of his party. That half, comprising mostly of racist whites, now overwhelmingly votes Republican.
7. Most have actually read the 9th amendment. Can also spell "amendment."
8. Represent broadest spectrum of the American public: women, blacks, Latinos, gays, Jews, seculars, immigrants, union workers, and yes, also straight middle-class white male Protestants like me.
If they were alive today, Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt would be Democrats.

Despite a wealth of good ideas, Democrats have allowed themselves to be intimdated by semi-literate meatheads called Republicans

A democrat is one of five possible degrees of view. (the five being radical, liberal, moderate, conservative, and reactionary) The moderate is a neutral standpoint where radicals and liberals are degrees of democrats (radicals being the extreme) and conservatives and reactionaries being the republican viewpoints (reactionaries being the extreme)
The democratic view point changed to be more of a moderate party during the 2006 midterm senate elections. Today we classify a democrat as someone who believes in:
-Privacy with limited government observation
-Pro-choice, but with certain limitations such as that partial birth abortions should not be allowed.
-Protection of the environment through uses of alternative fuel sources and cleaner practices, though not so much that our standards of life decrease.
- A strong government that helps people through well fare, shelters, and other means of aid, though not a governemt that will allow "mooching"
- Taxes being left as percentages, so everyone has to pay _% of their income to taxes, with exceptions for the extreme cases of poverty.
the symbol for a democrat is a donkey while the republican is an elephant. Also, democrats are generally represented by the color blue while the republicans are represented by red.
During the 109'th congress, the democrats where the majority composition of the house of representatives.
have tried to disregard my own viewpoints while writing this. Please take into consideration that most democrats and republicans are liberals and conservatives, not reactionaries and radicals. Most people think of the opposing party as radicals or conservatives simply making more tension. Both parties have some pros to them and both have some cons.

The United States Democratic Party. Usually characterized by beliefs such as:
- personal privacy rights, including legalized abortion and gay marriage
- protection of civil liberties
- protection of the enviornment
- multilateral foreign policy
- extensive government services, such as health care, education, and welfare
- tax system that causes the rich to pay more taxes to pay for above government services
There are currently 202 Democrats in the House of Representatives and 44 in the Senate.
This is a neutral definition of the word Democrat. Urban Dictionary should be about defining words, not advancing a point of view.
