Someone who compares a basketball game to bullfighting, a war, or a fight with bears or wolves. Teams don't surrender points, and logos/symbols of a team were created by people trying to market the team, which is why pretentious people make comparisons to other events, and other people don't think that way.
Pretentious people try to make a sports game more than a sports game, when really the world doesn't revolve around sports, even for sports fans.
Someone who expects everyone to be friendly. Nobody owes it to anybody to be friendly or welcoming all the time, or to like/pretend to like every stranger they ever met. In life, if you make a few true friends, you have what some people pretend to have, and what many never get. Why would you need more than that? Why would you already like/love/trust somebody you never met, a stranger. Anybody who says they like/love/trust a stranger is pretending to like/love/trust a stranger.
Only a pretentious person would say they liked/loved/trusted someone they never met before/didn't know well. Someone who wanted everyone to assume they owed it to other people to like/love/trust everyone, including them.
Someone that tries to convince the world everything is okay between them and their sibling after a lot of damage has been done. Also spreads a lot of bullshit misinformation about people and events.
The pretentious girl had little control of the bullshit that came out of her mouth, which is one of the reasons family members who knew her well called her mouth of the south growing up.
Used to describe people attempting to impress others by thinking their smarter or more important than they actually are.
Holy shit, Pink Floyd fans are pretentious.
Usually a very petty person with a limited point of view and absolutely no patience. One that thinks that the express lane is only for them!
A pretentious customer is one to think it is okay to cut in front of everyone with a full cart through the speed lane because they don't want to wait in that long line over there. I'm a special snowflake.
