if you live in a small town,your afraid of being in a realationship because your scared your reputation cause everyone knows everthing about you, which is called small town effect.
you talk shit about a girl u like in front of your friends, even tho u like her because ur afraid of loosing ur reputation, which is called small town effect.
A phenomenon that occurs in small towns with very little to do. The person feels bored and isolated and starts doing self destructive things like getting drunk, being promiscuous, and doing lots of drugs to feel a sense of excitement that they can't otherwise feel in their lives.
The internet, hobbies, and passion are cures for small town syndrome.

A police officer that, instead of actually helping society and arresting people for actual crimes, like to to a list of annoying things because of their lack of actual things to respond to or stop; such as
1. sit by areas where the speed limit drops significantly with a radar gun to get you for 5mph over cause you didn't slow down quick enough
2.harass teenagers while they are just walking around not doing anything wrong asking them what they are up to.
3.not respond to burglary calls (My friend and his dad had this happen)
4. Act like town curfew means "immediate quarantine" and love to fine you up the ass for breaking this even if your standing 50 feet away from your yard.
5. think skateboarding/longboarding is a serious crime, although it can be annoying they take the rules to far on this one.
I don't have problems with authority, just bored fat pricks with a badge and tazers.
Vicksburg MI has a terrible case of small town police officers.

When a high school couple from a small town gets married quickly after graduation, buys a house, starts a family, and never leaves their hometown.
Person 1: Hey man did you see Jack and Melissa are engaged already?
Person 2: I did see that, they’re getting married 2 months after we graduate.
Person 1: Looks like some people are already getting bit by the small town syndrome but.

When an individual becomes infatuated with their own reputation and creates a faux following and ego around themselves. This is all undone upon the individual visiting a larger town or city, where they find themselves somewhat unknown and ignored.
Where I come from, everyone knows me.

A person who is the best looking person in a small town but when in a larger urban setting they are nothing special.
Or someone who is the best looking in a small setting, ie a party or a smaller club.
2 examples.
1. when your in a small town and your buddy says wow that chick is so hot and you reply "shes only small town pretty"
2. You meet your buddies girlfriend and tell him "yeah shes ok, shes small town pretty"

A condition in which small towns suffer from a lack of offerings in a number of important lifestyle categories (i.e.; stuff to do, availability of the opposite sex, etc.) and a general malaise of boredom and monotony.
God, this town is so boring! There's nothing to do--it's the worst case of small-town syndrome I've ever seen!
