Metaphor used when a justification can’t be made for negligence or lack of productivity or timeliness, particularly in a work setting.
Origin: The excuse made by the United States Secret Service Director, Kimberly Cheatle, for the negligence during the assassination attempt on former President, Donald Trump at the Pennsylvania rally July 13, 2024.

When you get on your bosses bad side and everything you do is ill received furthering your decline down the "slope". Every good deed is twisted and manipulated into a negative outcome usually ending in being fired and/or career ending marks placed on your records.
