A small mp3 playing device that has pros and cons. Half of the people writing bad reviews probably:
A. Don't have the money to afford an iPod
or
B. Don't use proper care, which is why it breaks so easy (dropping, lending, keeping it in your pocket with your car keys, etc.)
Sure, the iPod doesn't have a mic or a radio, but it does allow users with any music library have their music on the go. An 11 year old can put his library of 50 songs on it, or a 40 year old studio owner can put their library of 10,000 songs on it. It does also get scratched easy, but if your willing to shell out $250 for an ipod, you have the extra $30 to spend on a case for it. iTunes is pretty easy to use, and it is pretty straightforward. They even have audiobooks and (some-what) overpriced movies. But hey, no ones putting a gun to your head telling you to buy them.
I've had my 30 gig video iPod for a year and a half with minor scratches (I have a case) and my stock headphones are plenty loud and haven't broke.
So you can buy a $250 iPod that will easily hold your full library of songs, but may have some drawbacks, or buy a different $250 mp3 player that has a radio and mic, but holds less songs.
Guy 1: Nice iPod, is it giving you any troubles?
Guy 2: I've had it for a year, and its doing good so far.
Guy 1: Well I heard iPods suck. You wasted your money!!
Guy 2: Cool? Thats your opinion, mine has been fine.

And it ALL comes back to you. buy an mp3 player for gods sake, Apple is ripping you off, if you want an Ipod, only to be ripped off, Live with it, you fucked person. go have buttseckz with some shithead, 'cuz that's what's like to have a broken Ipod

Mp3 player created by Steve Jobs. Price gets higher as product gets smaller. Has way too much space that never actually gets used.

A lot of the people on this site are obviously poor and cannot afford an iPod. The battery only loses capacity if you charge it like a mother fucker. And it's only $59 to replace. It's lithium based. You guys are just piss poor assholes making up lies to stop people from buying iPods because you can't afford them. Another misconception is that you have to pay iTunes $.99 everytime you add a song. HAHAHA, whoever does that is just a moron. All you have to do is download the songs and then add them to your iTunes library and in a matter of seconds they're on your iPod.
Person1: iPods totally suck because of the battery. It cost like $438953458839 to replace it!! And You have to pay $.99 a song!

Released in 2001 shortly after the return of CEO, Steve Jobs, the iPod has over 80% worldwide marketshare thanks in part to the device's wide spread advertising campaign. With many lacking features, it has become target to the "geek sub-culture" for ridicule and "lameness". However with such popularity iPod has become the world's most prelevlant portable multi-media device and hence has received brand association with all types of multi-media devices and mp3 players.

The iPod is often mistaken for a piece of shit. It's actually not that bad. Although:
1. It's pretty expensive.
2. It has excessive space.
3. A lot of people die from the iPod.
(1) Dude A: You have an iPod? How much did it cost?
Dude B: Everything I have.
(2) Dude A: That song is shit. Why don't you save space for better songs?
Dude B: It doesn't matter that I never listen to half the songs, I have 4 gigs of space.
(3) Dude A: WATCH OUT FOR THAT FALLING HELICOPTER!!!

A very simple, easy to use music player. People often enjoy bashing on them saying other brands have x more features such as radio, voice recorder etc. Most people don't need all that BS and it makes things more complicated. The iPod sells very well because it does something very well, play music, and offers a very good user experience. The FM thing is really dumb, why would you need FM radio on your mp3 player, when in fact, it IS an MP3 PLAYER! Don't you want to play MP3's?? That's like buying a CD player so you can listen to the radio, wtf?
Also, it's true you pay the premium for an iPod for it's very nice aesthetic design. It's obviously superior than any other plastic piece of garbage. Everything else simply feels cheap, and looks cheap, and is packaged in tacky packaging. All of those combined give the iPod an excellent out of the box experience, and it feels nice in the palm of your hand.
iPod Owner: I love my iPod, it's so smooth and works great, although my hard drive ended up failing i'll simply drop it by the Apple Store, since I'm not cheap and actually bought an additional 2 years of service for it, they'll take care of it right away and I'll probably get a refurb immediately.
Creative Owner: Hey look! My ZEN makes creaky noises when you squeeze it!! Sweet! OH shit i broke it... :(
