In the service industry, when on a (usually large) table, a single person will order coffee (espresso, cappuccino, etc...) which will then inspire everyone else at the table to order coffee as well.
"I got through the whole 12 top and then the last person ordered a coffee and started a coffee pandemic. What a nightmare!"
