Dark metal

Dark metal is a genre of metal that has elements of death, black, doom and gothic metal. These elements are: synthesizers, acoustic guitars, clean vocals/distorted/operatic female vocals.
It could be described as a more sophisticated and medolic addition to the genre. The lyrics are often introspective and poetic.

Some Dark metal bands:
Agathodaimon, Graveworm, Bethlehem, Daylight Dies, Samael, Rotting Christ, Tiamat.

extreme metal

1) An umbrella term for three heaviest genres of metal music (along with their subgenres): thrash metal, black metal and death metal
2) A convenient term to label the music of bands who tend to incorporate all three of the above influences into their sound
2) A politically correct term/euphemism used to label black metal which happens not to be "black" enough for the trve kvlt people to acknowledge it as such. Hence, some formerly black metal bands who later shifted towards a more mainstream sound have adopted this term to label their own music, which later carried over to reviewers and music press.

1) Understood as an umbrella term, "extreme metal" can be used to describe such different bands as Slayer, Cannibal Corpse or Emperor.

2) Torchbearer can be considered the consummate extreme metal band, as their music is a well-balanced mix of thrash, death and black metal.
3) Dimmu Borgir started out as a melodic black metal band, but later incorporated heavy symphonic and industrial influences into their sound while noticeably reducing explicit Satanic references in their lyrics. This lead to considerable mainstream success for the band, which coupled with its lyrical blandness has called into question the continued status of the band as a "black metal" band. Hence the band's sound is often referred to as "extreme metal", presumably not to upset black metal purists, even though the sound is still predominantly rooted in black metal and lacks thrash or death characteristics.

Metal Forum

The heavy metal forum is found on sites such as VampireFreaks, Ultimate Guitar Tabs, GaiaOnline, and other social or music sites. You can expect many Metal Elitists and emo teenagers within these walls.

The emo kids start topics about Bullet For My Valentine or Slipknot and talk about other emo shitty bands. These kids are usually spat on and booted from the mods.
The Elitists tell those kids to fuck off and die. All while talking about their shitty underground black metal bands. Any bands they don't like are considered not metal. Any band with more than 10,000 fans are considered sell-outs and mainstream.
Fights always break out between the two sides, with the Emo usually throwing the "It's my Opinion" and "Freedom of Speech" arguments, and the elitist using the "No, it's a fact that (band) is SHIT" argument.

Typical Metal Forum Scenario

14-Year old in a Recommendation Thread: Check out these bands!
Job for a Cowboy
Bullet for my Valentine
Five Finger Death Punch

Elitist: I'd rather have cancer and AIDS simultaneously than to listen to that shit.
*shitstorm ensues*

Thrash Metaller

A person who listens mainly to Thrash Metal, wears black band t-shirts, black or faded blue denim pants, leather or denim jacket, usually spikes and possibly plays an instrument or sings. Often politically minded.
We tend to be feared and disliked by the mainstream society, but we hate them anyways, and we enjoy beating up skaters and emo boys.
Quite similar to punk

Did you see that guy over there?
Yeah! He is a true Thrash Metaller

Look at those Thrash Metallers kick those skater asses!

Punks and Thrash Metallers tend to get along well, seeing as how they have similar styles.

Metal Head

One who listens to music for it's talent. The artists may be everyone from Bach and Mozart, to Arch Enemy and Iron Maiden. They believe that the so called "Class system" and "social status" are just labels that the insecure people in society have created to seperate themselves and make them feel superior. If a metal-head weres a shirt and is asked why, they will say "Cus I like it" NOT "Cus I'm a metal-head" True Metal heads will not say such things. Generally very accepting over different ways of life with a strong sense of moral and honor.

Dude 1: That guy isn't a metal-head, I checked his playlist, he listens to Bach and mozart
Dude 2: Whatever he's listening to Arch Enemy right now and yesterday was jamming to Iron Maiden, he's a complete metal-head
Dude 1: You can't listen to classical music and heavy metal and say you're a metal head!
Metal-Head: Actually you can, where do you think music started, with the classics. *Sighs* Oh the ignorance.....

Metal Head

A Metal Head is a person who listens to Death, Thrash, Speed, Black, Shred, and maybe Melodic Metal. Most wont listen to Alt or Nu-Metal and will probably shun it. There is no definate set of clothing attire but most can be seen wearing some type of jeans ranging from blue to black, also most likely have on a band shirt with either long hair or a shaved head, if they have facial hair it will most likely be a med-big beard or a goatee. A common mistake is that people tend to call them Satanic because of the music they listen to, this is not true. Yes, a metal head may be Satanic but this is simply a coincidence. They often fight, mainly for one of four reasons:
1: They have been having a bad day and you get in their way, say something wrong, etc.
2: They are in a good/content mood and you do something to provoke/anger them
3: They have had anger bottled up for a while and can no longer stand it, thus lashing out at anybody.
and finally the fourth reason

4: Simply because they like to fight. That being said its generally not the best idea to pick a fight with a metal head because whether they look it or not they are most likely a good fighter. They have a tight-knit group of friends, whom they are loyal to and share a good connection with. They are educated and civil, contrary to popular belief.
