Rock and Pop

The section of Yahoo Answers where trolls run rampant, fangirls gather, idiots are bountiful, and intelligent people flee.

And then there are the regs. The regs are those who choose to stay. Kind of like that creepy dude in the house in War of the Worlds who didn't run away. He just stayed in his house. Weirdo.

The regs do not have initiation, they don't have a special list, they are just the regs. There are the few that have been here for over three years, the many that have been here for a year or two, and the plenty that are joining every month.

It is one of the most interesting of the Yahoo Answers categories. It harbors trolls, hatred, drama, among everything else you might find in The Hills.

Rock and Pop is a place to (not really but in a sense, yes) be with others who hate the world as much as you do and listen to similar music. It is not a hobby. It is a lifestyle. Rock and Pop.

Shouldn't Rock and Pop be in separate categories?

pop music

Popular music. A collective genre, also referred to as Pop, Chart Music, Top 40, or Hits, it primarily focuses on wide circulation, sales and the marketability of the "artists" than on creative or artistic content. Pop can range from Dance, R&B, Rap, Country and Rock, but is generally the most "diluted" form of any genre it emulates. Pop songs generally have a 3-minute, hook/verse structure (although many ballads have made it to the charts) written for immediate likability, often written by corporate record label executives, and "pushed" by a front-person or people, commonly referred to as the artist or artists.

When initially identifying a pop artist, mass production and circulation are the biggest indicators. Check mainstream media/entertainment outlets, such as MTV, VH1, E!, Rolling Stone magazine, or the "New Releases" or "Heavy Rotation" section of the local music store.

hip pop

See:
Nelly
Ja Rule
Puff Daddy
Lil Bow Wow
Fabolous

In other words half-assed "rappers" who claim that they are the shit when the only people that should be receiving credit for their music are the producers. Since they are the ones that create the beats, it doesn't really matter about the music. Any ass clown can get a bomb ass producer and rap about bullshit and make millions of dollars. A prime example is anything off Nelly's latest album or that milkshake song that is on the air right now.

Hip pop artist lyrics mostly include the following topics:

1. Sippin' Cristal Champagne
2. Rollin' in Escalades, Navigators, or other over-priced SUV's.
3. Talkin' about DUB rims or Spinners.
4. Lame ass choruses that includes 20 other rappers singing along from their mediocre label.
5. Talking about how hard the "gang" life was when they were raised in a suburb, not the hood (See Ja Rule).

Hip Pop is bullshit people, it's a marketing tactic that brainwashes the minds of the youth of America into thinking that these lame ass rappers do have good lyrics. If you want good lyrics go listen to the real hip hop:
KRS-One, Mos Def, Gangstarr, Rakim, and Common. Just to name a few.

Most of the so-called "rap" that you hear on the radio is hip pop. What you see on MTV, that's hip pop.
