noun. A special state of smugness experienced by a Scrabble player who is either winning or has recently had a very high-scoring word on the board.
Unlike normal smugness, Scrabble Smugness is notoriously difficult to hide and even statements such as "I was lucky that time" or "It's just the tiles" will do nothing to reassure the opponent(s) that there is no smugness.
Typically Scrabble Smugness will manifest itself as a peculiar grin, and is accompanied by feelings of superiority and an over-estimation of one's intelligence. In many cases, Scrabble Smugness will induce feelings of Scrabble Rage in the opponent(s).
Player 1: Damn it, you're always winning.
Player 2: (modestly) I was just lucky that time. It's the tiles really...
Player 3: Like fuck it is. And don't pretend to be coy - you have the worst case of Scrabble Smugness ever.

The rather thick, obnoxious air that surrounds many drivers in the Bay Area, Denver CO, Iowa City IA and other artsy-fartsy, lefty, namby-pamby cities where people drive Toyota Prius Hybrid vehicles and think they are doing their part to save the world while in reality they are just dumb.
