BATNA

An acronym for Best Alternative To a Negotiated Agreement. The best alternative that a negotiating party can take if an agreement cannot be reached. The concept was developed by Roger Fisher and William Ury in their book “Getting to Yes: Negotiating Without Giving In.”

The President was terrible at negotiations , his BATNA, typically meant at best widespread suffering of others, to further his personal interests.
