towkay

The word “Towkay” 頭家 头家 literally means the “Head of Family” in its Chinese origin and refers to the head of an organization or someone who owns their own business. This is similar to using the term “Boss”. It is also the respectful address for such a person. Commonly pronounced the same “tau’ke” in the Chinese Hokkien/ Teochew dialects and in the Malay language.

He was recorded to have said, "Towkay Jeremy is an old fox."
"To the rescue came Towkay Xin Yi who gave temporary residence to the children at her house."
"The three companies have different names but all of them belong to the same towkay, Jonathan," he said.
