Antipsychotics are a type of drugs called dopamine antagonists that reduce dopamine in the brain and are used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder,Tourette's syndrome, psychosis, and aggressiveness in autism. There are injectable forms of antipsychotics that are used to forcibly drug the mentally ill. Medicaid pays for 70 % of antipsychotics. These drugs have high noncompliance rates. Antipsychotics are commonly used among the homeless, prisons especially juvenile jails, nursing homes, and of course mental institutions. Long term use of especially first generation antipsychotics can cause tardive dyskinesia (involuntary movements tics) and tardive akathisia (anxiety, restlessness). Antipsychotics are also called neuroleptics.
Antipsychotics like Haloperidol are used to calm the mentally ill.

Antipsychotics are a class of drugs based on some fancy carbon based compounds. They act on the nervous system in too many ways to count. The reality of these drugs is that, if you're capable of reading this, then you need to address the underlying problems. I've never had biological psychosis but that doesn't stop doctors from branding me as a permanent head case. I can't say whether these drugs work in severe cases or not, but I think that's probably irrelevant because people crazy enough to depend on this shit are probably SOL regardless of any treatments. Doctors call antipsychotics 'tough stuff' and they resereve that term for all but the most severe treatments. These drugs will get you banned from the military. They may cause you to be a 'drunk' driver regardless of alcohol consumption. Please don't drive on them, I did and I then realized I had to quit them. They increase alcohols effects, and no it's not pleasant. They make you tired and hungry. If you have any doubts whether you need them, then I can tell you that you don't. If your certain then I can't offer you advice. However, if you were placed on these as a child, I am almost 100% certain that you were conned like I was, and you need to rebuild your life. These drugs are very strange in that they are similar to tranquilizers with none of the pleasant effects. Anyways, if you're on these, I suggest you stop them because the drug companies won't conduct proper studies on these drugs because these studies 'WOULDN'T BE EHTICAL'. Enough said? :)
Oh and they want you to take these drugs not because they make life better, but because it's cheaper for the government to have you doped up then acting in an anti capitolistic fashion. To sum it up, the people who might need an 'antipsychotic' (ones that would actualy make positive changes!) would never read this because they live forever in hospitals.
The government makes people take antipsychotics not for their health, but because it's cheaper than having them in hospital undergoing a more radical treatment.

Stromg medicines that stop brain from functioning normally. Used to cool down and control crazy people.
Never voluntary use antipsychotics because they cause brain damage, makes you retarted and are difficult to discontinue.
Only crazy people use antipsychotics and after you are labelled crazy you don't get proper health care and don't get any help discontinuing the meds. If other people don't like you they can call the cops (or to hospital) and you will be put to psychiatric hospital.
Doctors may sometimes propose to start using antipsychotics if they don't like their patient (meaning: "You have mental health problems.").
People how use antipsychotics die young or commit suicide because they live is not anymore worth living.
Never use antipsychotics (seroquel) to sleep, they are suicide medications for sleep.
If you tell psychiatrist random things they will put you on strong antipsychotics.

An atypical antipsychotic is a drug used to return individuals with psychotic disorders (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder {when used with antidepressants}) back into a normal or sedated state.
There is no generalization for how these drugs work, but they mostly focus on dopamine and serotonin activity.
Examples include:
Zyprexa (olanzapine)
Seroquel and Seroquel XR (quetiapine)
Risperdal (risperidone)
Abilify (aripiprazole)
Clozaril (clozapine)
The image is the 3D structure of olanzapine free base (meaning no modifications to the molecule such as in quetiapine's fumaric acid salt, quetiapine fumarate.)
Atypical antipsychotics are used in the management of psychotic conditions.
Nueroleptic agents(in medicine) usually not yet proven to work enough for anything specific. Still usually in testing stages for western pharmaceutical fraud guinea pigs. Many carry tranquilizing effects.
I was given an atypical antipsychotic when I was on probation and banned from using benzodiazepines.
