Brian Thompson

Brian Thompson -7/ 10, 1974 – 12/ 4, 2024, CEO of the American health insurance company UnitedHealthcare, was shot & killed in Manhattan, New York, on December 4, 2024. The shooting occurred in the morning outside an entrance to the New York Hilton Midtown hotel. Brian was in the city to attend an annual investors' meeting for UnitedHealth Group, the parent company of UnitedHealthcare. Prior to his death, he faced criticism for the company's rejection of insurance claims, & his family reported that he had received death threats in the past. The suspect, described as a white man wearing a mask, fled the scene. On 12/ 9, 2024, cops arrested 26-year-old Luigi Mangione in Altoona, Pennsylvania, & charged him with Brian's murder in a Manhattan court.

cops said Luigi was carrying a 3D-printed pistol & a 3D-printed suppressor like those used in the attack,

The suspect arrived in New York City on 11/ 24, 2024, via Greyhound bus. The bus route began in Atlanta, Georgia, but cops don't know from which city or town he boarded. He checked into the HI New York City Hostel on the Upper West Side of Manhattan on November 24, 2024, with a fake New Jersey id card & paid in cash. He stayed all but 1 night of the 10 days he was in New York City at the hostel, checking out on 12/ 3, 2024

Brian Thompson On 12/4, 2024, was in NYC for an annual UnitedHealthcare investors meeting. He left a Marriott hotel where he was staying, which was across the street from the New York Hilton Midtown, where his meeting was to be held. As he was walking along West 54th Street toward the Hilton he was shot from behind by an assailant

in a hooded jacket & a pistol. Thompson was taken to Mount Sinai West hospital in Manhattan, where he died.

Following his killing, public officials, expressed dismay & offered condolences to Thompson's family. numerous media sources reported that social media users shared their contempt for Thompson, UHC, & the American health , the assailant fired 3 times at him from a suppressed 9 mm pistol, striking him in the back & right calf.

The cops believe it to be the weapon found in the suspect's bag after his arrest – a partially 3D-printed Glock 19 & 3D-printed suppressor. The ghost gun consists of a 3D-printed lower receiver, metal slide, Glock 19 internals from a parts kit, & uses a standard Glock magazine. The 3D-printed part's design was an iteration of "FMDA 19.2", a design released in 2021 by the libertarian group Deterrence Dispensed.

Brian Thompsoned

The phrase β€œto be Brian Thompsoned” has become cultural shorthand for situations where someone faces extreme consequences, such as targeted violence, due to their role in controversial decisions or systemic failings. This development stems from the late Brian Thompson’s position as the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, an organization often criticized for its role in the U.S. healthcare system.

Key Contexts for the Phrase:
1. Corporate Accountability.
2. Public Outrage.
3. Targeting of Public Figures.
4. Systemic Criticism.

Cultural Implications:

The emergence of such terms often speaks to collective frustrations with institutional failures. By using β€œBrian Thompsoned,” people may be commenting on how public anger, whether justified or extreme, can manifest against individuals seen as representatives of systemic problems.

A: What! Can you believe that judge ruled against the Onion in the infowars auction?

B: No way! That judge should be Brian Thompsoned.
