Decolonization

Five hundred years ago, elite learned members of the Christian priesthood travelled North America to preach to the indigenous locals that they were evil pieces of shit, everything they believed was wrong, and they needed to be re-educated in order to save themselves. That was colonization.

Today, elite learned members of the Academic priesthood travel North America to preach to the non-indigenous locals that they are evil pieces of shit, everything they believe is wrong, and they need to be re-educated in order to save themselves. That is decolonization.

Amy - God, I hate myself for being a white person that was born in this country. My prof was so right when xe told me I need to do something to help with decolonization.

Becky – Why don’t you post a pic on Insta showing you wearing those dream catcher earrings?

Amy – Perfect! Now let’s go shopping!

Decolonization

Decolonization is the rematiriation of culture and tradition as well as repatriation of land and sovereignty to Indigenous People

As a settler, decolonization is not an option. However, I can do everything in their power to support the decolonization efforts of Indigenous people by centering the voices, process, and initiatives of Indigenous Nations that invite the settler voice to speak to those that willfully ignore Indigenous voices.

decolonization

Movements that advocate for countering the effects of settler-colonialism through returning some land to indigenous peoples and giving them autonomy or independence, and bringing back to life the elements of their cultures that were suppressed during colonization. It is intended to give them the right to self-determination that was revoked during colonization and continues to be revoked in their modern nation-states

Contrary to what some people say, decolonization is not about "sending the whites back to Europe" which is not realistic because European-descended peoples are a majority in most former settler-colonies and a very large minority in others. But it would involve land reform that redistributes some land to indigenous peoples, with the option to become independent or autonomous territories to regain the self-rule that they once had, and properly revive their cultures, instead of having the norms and language and political systems of their colonizers forced upon them for eternity

Financial Decolonization

A word coined by Quechua Artist Akapa Supay. This word was coined or created from a blog post he posted on his website which was titled "Financial Decolonization". In simpler terms, its true meaning is unlearning bad financial habits, while adopting financial literacy.

"Did you hear how Chester was saving up his money, used it to invest , while doubling his profit? That's some real Financial Decolonization right there"

"My rent is $1,500 for the month and I only had $2,000 to spend this month. I saw this new game system that was another $500, but when I calculated rent and purchasing the game system I didn't think it was a smart decision. I had to ask myself if It was a necessity, and because It wasn't I chose to save my extra $500. I wanted to execute my Financial Decolonization methods during the heat of the moment.
