The main elements that Dreampunk illustrates are mind bending events, psionic technology, various states of consciousness, brainpower, psychological anomalies, and esotericism. A Dreampunk story could take place in a universe where dreams manifest into reality. It can also take place in a story where those with superior psionic abilities subjugate the world under an inescapable nightmare. In other stories, it could be a world ruled by the imagination, or even take place in a world where you can dive into the unconscious realm of the mind, opening the gate to a brand new world.
Some examples of dreampunk would be Alice in wonderland, Inception, The Coma, and Paprika.
