The act of people that are too stupid to realise they are stupid gathering in herds to ward off the actual intellectually superior people.
I was on reddit earlier lurking posts and I stumbled upon this thread filled with nothing but herd-stupidity against the OP
Having preference for the epidemiological condition resulting in reduction of airborne communicable disease transmission requiring 60-70 percent of a given, closed community to have acquired natural immunity to the infection at the expense significant mortality when targeted immunization protocols can achieve the same objective without inherent suffering.

Ummm. I think I'll wait for the vaccine rather than jump on your herd stupidity train.

A form of indirect protection from rational thinking that occurs when a large percentage of a population has become immune to using their brains, whether through group think or mainstream media influence , thereby providing a measure of isolation for individuals who are not so afflicted.
We seem to be protected from making any progress as society has achieved herd-stupidity
