runner-runner

(adj) Describes the way a hand won in Texas Hold'em Poker if the turn (fourth) and river (fifth) cards saved it from losing.

That river rat -- all he had were rags til he caught that runner-runner flush on the board.

Oh man, what a chaser. He calls my all-in with a double gut-shot, then gets a runner-runner straight on the river. Unbelievable.

runner, runner...cocksucker!

statement of disgust in poker when someone who calls all your bets and beats you in a hand by using the last two community cards, despite horrible odds

I flopped a set, and you hit hearts on the turn and river cards to get your flush...runner, runner...cocksucker!

Runner Runner Up The Ass

To fail at a task or game at the last moment on a consistent basis. Usually but not always through no fault of their own.

Every hand of poker I play I get Runner Runner Up The Ass. I'm never going to win.
