When an older fellow, says a word or phrase that most people would be flabbergasted to hear. But he has no idea what he actually said.

Over stating the obvious, and unnecessarily explaining something to people who already know the defentiton. But also explaining it in a way which shows the person explaining it, actually doesn’t have a full grasp of the concept themselves, and in fact, knows less than those he/she is lecturing.
