Ricer

A person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to):

- Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder
- Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747
- Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool
- Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself
- Bodykit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire
- Clear tail lights and corner signals
- A "performace intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine)
- Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow

Honda Civics with big spoilers and 4" exhaust tips are considered to be ricers.

Ricer

People who destroy cars. If you have a Japanese car that was made to go fast (R35 GTR, Skyline R34, Supra, S2000 & RX8), then you can make it go fast, and we're not talking fast, we're talking "Lamborghini Aventador/Veneno" fast.

However, one with a bullshit JDM car that was made to go slow & handle like a Tata Nano with oil on its tires. (Usually Honda Civics & Toyota Avalon, but cars like the Focus, 206/106s & Cavaliers are known to be riced) can be massacred to the point a bone-stock Smart ForTwo could beat it, let alone a poverty-spec moped from India or Pakistan.

Usually, they will have tasteless mods, such as HUGE fart cans the size of 3 Rottweilers, obnoxious REP wheels & body kits, and huge spoilers. It's also been reported that they will have audio systems in the trunk, though more rarely, there are not only speakers but TV Screens or game consoles.

1: I got a damn 1970 Monte Carlo in my garage. It's all rusty & shit, but unlike that asshole driving his Peugeot 106, it won't wake up the entire neighborhood.
2: Guys, look! It's a damn Cavalier sticker bombed with a fart can on it. *Laughs*
3: Bro this car is sick! This used to be a ricer Ford Focus, but I tuned it and made it go beast mode! I beat a Gallardo off the line & killed a brand new Ferrari. I taught those rich kids the meaning of "kick-ass"

Ricer

Much like several terms referring to the LGBTQ community, Ricer can be used both as a slur or to refer to a community with a specific aesthetic and can often be confused by those unfamiliar with the community as being racially charged or out and out racist.

Ricer, when used in a non derogatory manner, refers to community of car enthusiasts focused on primarily cosmetic changes with an aesthetic popularized in America by movies like The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift, Anime such as Intital D, and video games such as Midnight Club.

Ricers primarily use cars of Asian design

such as Hondas, Toyotas, Hyundais, and their subsidiary companies such as Lexus, Scions, etc. This is used an argument for the racist nature of the term; however, As the aesthetic style originated in Asia and was imported to America, I personally find this to be an unfair assault on the community.

Within the Ricer community exists subcommunities such as JDMs (Japanese Drift Machines), which is both an aesthetic community and an actual brand who makes modification parts.

While JDMs are Ricers, not all Ricers are JDMs. It has been a struggle of the JDM community to maintain their unique identity as many specifically white people become uncomfortable using the term ricer and have instead began using JDM as a stand in for ricer. This has lead the JDM community to get very defensive of what is JDM and as such can give the community the reputation of being toxic.

Guy 1: I just bought this car for like 3000. It looks sick, but the guys at the tire shop that the rim on my car was a 18.5 inch with an 18 inch tire on it, who even does that?
Guy 2: Dude, you bought a Ricers project car... They sometimes value form over function.

Guy 1: The guy I bought it from was white, why did you just assume he was Asian.

Guy 2: That's not what I meant by Ricer. I mean the car is literally aesthetically an example of the Ricer community.

Guy 1: I think you mean JDM community.

Guy 2: No, I mean Ricer. This is a Korean made car and has grippy tires. It is definitely not a Japanese Drift Machine.

Guy 1: But that word sounds kinda racist.

Guy 2: Dude, Next Saturday the ricers are having a car show. Come with me and I can actually introduce you to some of my Ricer friends. They may be able to help you with your tire problem.

Ricer

Ricer is a term created from the initials of the term "racing inspired cosmetic enhancement" (RICE) and usually refers to people, that modify their vehicles to LOOK faster. The term is frequently misused as a insult in the car community. The original term is not specified to a certain vehicle type, or brand, or drivetrain layout, however people commonly misrepresent it for a "owner of an uncool car" insult.

"Ow, have you seen that Honda back there with that giant wing? What a ricer!"

Ricer

There are two different types of ricers, ones with fast cars but with weird modifications, and another is a idiot that just puts cardboard spoilers and other weird shit. I dont have a problem with either, i think you should be able to customize ur car how u want. But yea those are the two ricers

Nice cardboard skirt, ya ricer

Ricer

Ricer, noun.

A car, usually an inexpensive and unassuming (i.e. slow) Japanese import, extensively modified with tacky cosmetic elements such as needless spoilers, side skirts, and garish decals in order to look like a fast, sleek vehicle.

Joe: Wow, that's a slick ride. Look at the spoiler.
Steve: No, that's just a ricer. It probably can't break 90 mph.
